What is the Aadhaar Card Eligibility Criteria?

The eligibility criteria to hold Adhaar Number and therefore Adhaar Card are very simple.

Resident Of India: Firstly, one has to be the citizen of India to get Adhaar number. Only an Indian resident can fulfill the process of verification laid down by UIDAI.

Age Criteria: There is no age bar to get enrolled for UID. A new born child is also eligible to get Adhaar card and enroll. One has to provide biometric details of individual applying for UID which is not required in case of children who are less than three years of age. Their Adhaar card is linked to their guardians or parents and their parent’s data is enough for them. However, as they grow up and become 5 years old, their biometric details are required. As they become 15 years old, they have to provide their new biometric details. For adults, the biometric details remain the same throughout their age and hence they need not provide the same time and again.
