The government of Uttrakhand -Nagar Nigam Haridwar

The government of Uttrakhand lastly decided to establish the Municipal Corporation in Haridwar and Haldwani in place as an alternative to municipal bodies. Haridwar and Haldwani are the second cities of Uttrakhand which have the Nagar Nigam, the first city which has Municipal Corporation is Dehradun.

The council of Municipal of Haldwani and Haridwar are upgraded as Municipal Corporation, as announced by the chief minister of Uttrakhand Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

A notification for this decision has been issued to the respective departments; in addition to this Mr Nishank said that the civic requirements of the people of these cities will be managed in an efficient way.

The municipal councils of these cities were dissolved after this new order and fresh elections for the municipal corporation will take place to constitute Nagar Nigam/Municipal Corporations.

These two Municipal corporations will serve the population of total 2.5 people in Haridwar and a population of 2 lakh, which lives in the Haldwani city.
